This performance was a site-specific work and was created for the exhibition 'Prijs van de actuele tekenkunst van de stad Ronse', Ronse, Belgium
Site-specific work as performance and installation.
Drawing with oil and pigment on windows, paper.
About the work
On the windows of the former dyehouse of Ronse, I drew, during the opening of the exhibition, a number of objects linked to the building. They are floating along.
The starting point of this work was the context: the architecture and the history of this place. :
The drawings refer to the prediction of the rising sea level.
On the one hand the designers of this site are aware of their resposibility and they have therefore opted for a sustainable architecture.
On the other hand, the latest industry that was located on this site, went bankrupt after a flooding of the river the' Molenbeek'.
If you look through the windows, the objects are projected on the gimped site under construction and on the remnants of the industry. Old and new is in 1 view united. The temporary drawings are partly made in advance and partly during a performance at the opening of the exhibition. They are afterwards cleaned, so the window recovers again in its original function.
