About the work
The Socialist movement build the 'Feestlokaal' or Party Room of Vooruit in 1913. Nowadays Vooruit is an art-centre.
The video is a registration of drawings on the windows of the building (animations and videos of the construction or deconstruction of the drawings) in combination with material of the archive of the Vooruit (through projections on the windows). The painted surfaces forms projection screens.
A group of people with flags: a demonstation. A group of chairs: a meeting. Line Boogaerts registered the movement in and around the Vooruit in a historical perspective. Somebody alone, a group of people: via drawings with oil and pigment on the windows of the building, she puts layers on top of each other in time and space. In her drawings old and new images and disappear. Her drawings are temporary, only visible for a short time and show the architecture of the building. The Vooruit is a mosaic of old and new elements: the show cases, the 'blokhut',... old and new pieces from different times. Via drawings she conceals and makes visible. She shows time sliding past.
